The Tech4islands Awards is the one and only international competition for innovation BY and FOR islands, in order to bring out innovative Tech For Good solutions that are ecological, sustainable and resilient, “good for the islands and therefore good for the Planet”.
During the Grand oral, which was held on September 20th in the presence of the Minister of Education, modernization of the administration, in charge of digital, Christelle Lehartel, the representative of the Vice-President of French Polynesia and the other members of the jury for the new edition of the Tech4Islands Awards, the files of the 15 finalists out of the 67 applications received were submitted to the Jury, including 5 Polynesian companies’ files.
At the end of the jury’s deliberations, the 4 designated winners, including two Polynesian companies, are respectively:
– the Tech4Islands Planète Grand Prize for the company Lyspackaging, which promotes eco-friendly packaging made from elements of the nature that surrounds us;
– the Tech4Islands Oceania Grand Prize for the Polynesian company Pacific Beachcomber SC and their seawater air conditioning system (SWAC) already proven and which saves around 90% of cold energy compared to a conventional air conditioning system ;
– the Tech4Islands Outre-mer Grand Prize for the company Sargasse Project and its winning solution to the proliferation of the fusiforme Sargassum;
– the Tech4Islands Polynesia Grand Prize for the Polynesian company Nïnamu Solutions, whose project is already helping young generations to consume differently.
The jury wished to present a special prize to Boreal Light GmbH, whose modular, self-sufficient water purification solution won the audience.
The appointment is also made early next year for the Tech4Islands Summit Tahiti and the 4th international meeting of smart islands and land of innovation in Tahiti. An innovation summit BY and FOR the islands, where decision-makers, professionals, researchers, investors, institutions, administrations, students, schools and the general public will be able to discover sustainable and resilient innovations, in favor of an ecological Tech For Good “Good for the islands therefore good for the planet”.
